Welcome Messages

Dear Participants,

I write to welcome all of you as MRISA member schools to the International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC), and indeed to the city of Ho Chi Minh City. For those of you who are experiencing Vietnam for the first time, I am sure that you will find Vietnamese hospitality and ISHCMC hospitality to be conducive to enjoying your stay. I hope also that the Basketball that you play will exceed your own expectations.

This is the 18th year since MRISA was formed and it has been a great privilege for ISHCMC to have been involved since the outset of this organization. We are also very proud of our sporting tradition at ISHCMC and I hope that you will participate to the best of your ability.

More importantly I hope that you will simply enjoy the participation. Through this event you will make some good friends, some lasting friendships, and no doubt re-new some old acquaintances. The success of MRISA is built around these very opportunities.

16 teams are participating in this competition, with 160 players and 20+ coaches. There are 40 matches being played over two days. The MRISA competitions at ISHCMC over the years have always provided exciting action. So once again we look forward to spirited competition, to sportsmanship, to commitment and to the challenge of the game.

Good luck to you all for a happy and successful tournament!

Dear Athletes, Coaches, Parents and Supporters,

Welcome to International School of Ho Chi Minh City. We are privileged to host the Senior Basketball tournament 2015-16 and hope that you all have a rewarding and exciting experience. Such tournaments offer you the opportunity to create memories that endure; ones that you will share with others for years to come.

It is important to remember that sporting tournaments are much more than winning; they are about challenges – both team and individual, they are about camaraderie and bonding, about teamwork and work ethic; they allow for you to forge new friendships and respect for others. They are opportunities for learning and, of course, they are great opportunities to have fun!

You will find our entire community to be wonderfully supportive of all visitors and I take this chance to say thank you to Mr. Matthew Gollins and all our support staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful running of the event.

So, when you are dribbling, passing and shooting over the next few days - be competitive, respectful and remember to have fun!
